Training Services

Your dog can begin training at 12 weeks of age, and no dog is too old to begin learning new tricks.
The training will teach your dog useful obedience commands, good manners, and acceptable behavior patterns.
Every dog will receive individualized training based on his/her personality, social development, past and present behavior, aptitude for learning, breed characteristics, and your willingness to participate in the training process.
A FREE evaluation is included and required before any type of training can begin.
In order for you and your dog to gain the maximum benefits from obedience training, it is imperative that you review the training at home with your dog 2-3 times per day for 10-20 minutes.

Training Options Available Include:

Private Lessons

$45 per 1/2 hour or $60 per hour

During these lessons our trainer will meet you at your home or at Benchmark Pet Services, Inc. You, your dog, and the trainer will work together on a customized training regimen.

Programs Include the Following:
1. Basic Obedience
Teach your dog the basic commands such as heel, sit, down, stay, come, etc.

2. Behavioral Counseling
Designed to help owners who want to address specific behavioral issues such as Crate Training, Separation Anxiety, Biting, Jumping, Furniture Destruction, etc.

3. Puppy Selection
Our trainers can assist in selecting the best dog for your household based on your desires and breed characteristics.

Group Lessons

$95 per Course

This type of training is held in a classroom-like environment. Space is limited to 10 students and is held one day per week for a duration of 6 weeks (6 classes). Our trainer asks that the same owner/handler work with the dog each week. Throughout the 6 weeks, you and your dog will learn new commands. Both a Basic and an Advanced class is offered, and this will determine what commands will be taught. Our trainer will counsel you, the dog owner, on proper dog handling and training skills along with teaching your dog new commands. All commands are taught on-leash using motivation, praise, and light leash corrections. Along with learning new commands, your dog will quickly learn acceptable social skills in the group setting with our trainer facilitating the process.

*Your dog must be current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella Vaccines.

Residency Programs

$500 for 7-Day Training

Our Residency Program is designed to have your dog boarded here at Benchmark Pet Services, Inc. while our trainer works with your dog on a daily basis. This program is great for those dog owners who can't find time in their busy schedules to work with a trainer. It also works for those who have a new puppy, need the training, but can't start training due to a vacation or business travel. This is a time when your dog would be boarded anyway. One suggested program would be to check in Monday morning and check out Sunday evening or Monday morning.

While boarding at Benchmark Pet Services, Inc. your dog will enjoy an indoor temperature controlled run. Each dog has it's own private 10-foot exercise run that is fresh-air-ventilated in an insulated building that's connected by a doggy door to a heated and air conditioned sleeping and eating room. The dog is fed according to your schedule and any medication are given per your veterinarian's instruction.
*Your dog must be current on Rabies, Distemper,and Bordetella Vaccines.
